California Emerging Renewables Buy-Down Program

In an effort to encourage investment in alternative sources of energy, the California Energy Commission has instituted a generous rebate program to offset the costs of purchasing an alternative energy system.

After filing the necessary forms with the Energy Commission, individuals will receive a check for the lesser of: $2.50 per watt (actual panel output), .

On a 2,000-watt (2 kW) system, for example, you could expect a Buy-Down Program rebate as high as $5,000.

The California rebate program applies to photovoltaics, small wind turbines, fuel cells and solar thermal systems. For more information about this program, visit the California Energy Commission's Emerging Renewables Buy-Down Program website.
